During lockdown I became obsessed with growing basil. The culminating 300+ basil plants and their painted portraits became the art installation “Art Basil.” Participants were encouraged to wander around the night lit garden enjoying the plants, the paintings, and spectacle. The show ran until the basil caught a fungal disease and died.
The project will emerge again in the spring of 2021 with a goal of 1000 basil.
