This painting was made with 100% lavender essential oil solvent. The image for the work was made in collaboration with The Grow Lab at Central Saint Martins and depicts the trichomes on a lavender flower. Using thick, palette knife work the piece contrasts the translucent qualities of the microscopy image. The result is an image both of and against the world of microscopy and the traditions of oil painting.
